What are heating degree days? How does WegoWise calculate them?

Heating degree days (HDD) is a measurement that reflects the amount of energy needed to heat a building. WegoWise runs regressions on your data to determine the balance point for your building (the balance point is the temperature to which the building is being heated). Using this balance point, for each day with an average temperature below the balance point, WegoWise subtracts the average temperature from the balance point. It then adds the difference for each day of the month to calculate the heating degree days for that month.

What are cooling degree days? How does WegoWise calculate them?

Cooling degree days (CDD) is a measurement that reflects the amount of energy needed to cool a building. WegoWise runs regressions on your data to determine the balance point for your building (the balance point is the temperature to which the building is being cooled). Using this balance point, for each day with an average temperature above the balance point, WegoWise subtracts the balance point from the average temperature.
